Pitsky

About the Breed

The Pitsky is a designer breed of dog that has been gaining popularity in recent years. It is a mix between the American Pitbull Terrier and the Siberian Husky and is quickly becoming one of Americas favorite family pets. The Pitsky makes an excellent companion for active, outdoorsy families that have time to provide it with plenty of exercise and socialization. Read on to learn more about this increasingly popular breed. Origin & History The Pitsky is a relatively new designer breed, having first come into existence in the early 2000s. As a hybrid between two purebred breeds, both parent breeds will have had an influence on how the Pitsky looks and behaves today. The American Pitbull Terrier was originally bred as a working farm dog and was used for tasks such as hunting, herding livestock, and protecting property from predators. The Siberian Husky was originally bred by the Chukchi people of eastern Siberia to pull light loads over long distances in cold climates. Together these two breeds created what we now know as the Pitsky an athletic, intelligent canine companion with exceptional endurance for outdoor activities. Temperament & Personality The Pitsky inherits many desirable traits from both of its parent breeds intelligence, loyalty, playfulness, confidence, and sociability are all hallmarks of this hybrid breeds personality. They make excellent companions for active families who have time to provide them with plenty of exercise every day; they are happiest when they can be running or playing outdoors in wide-open spaces or participating in fun activities such as agility or flyball competitions with their owners. Although they may not be great guard dogs due to their friendly nature towards strangers, they can make good watchdogs thanks to their alertness and willingness to bark when necessary. Health & Lifespan The average lifespan for the Pitsky is 14-16 years depending on diet and lifestyle factors such as exercise levels; however due to its mixed heritage it can also suffer from some health issues that are common among its parents respective breeds too including hip dysplasia (an abnormal formation of the hip joint), eye problems such as progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), allergies or skin conditions such as mange among others so it's important to keep your pup up-to-date with regular checkups at your vet clinic if you want them living their best life possible! As far as weight goes; ideally adult male pitskies should weigh between 45-60 pounds while females should weigh between 35-50 pounds depending on height etc.. Important Health Checks It's important that all pet owners take responsibility for their pup's health by getting them checked out regularly at your nearest vet clinic - especially if you notice any odd behavior changes! Common health checks recommended by veterinarians include: comprehensive physical exams every 6 months (or more often if your pup has any existing medical conditions); blood tests once per year; dental cleanings twice per year; vaccinations against common diseases like rabies every 3 years (or sooner if required); urine tests once per year; heartworm testing once per year; fecal testing twice per year; vision/hearing screenings annually etc.. All these basic checkups will help ensure your puppy remains healthy throughout its lifetime! Whether you're looking for an active companion who loves spending time outdoors or just someone snuggle up with after long days at work - then look no further than the loyal & loving pitskie! With proper care & attention this designer breed can be a great addition to any family - providing countless hours of entertainment & unconditional love over its lifetime!
